Five practical ways to lower compressed air energy use
Setpoint, leaks, pipe size, load profile and maintenance all land on the same bill.

Compressed air is one of the more expensive utilities in a plant. Even a well-chosen compressor wastes energy if the setpoint is high and the line leaks.
Measure the pressure the point of use actually needs. Every unnecessary bar means more electricity for the same flow.
A leak survey at the end of a shift, with ultrasound or soapy water, is often the first saving.
Pressure drop rises with velocity, so diameter should follow peak flow. Where demand swings, a variable-speed machine shortens unloaded running.
